July 23rd @5:15  we meet at  Dusty's Backside. We will have a very interesting speaker, Laurie Cooper who advocates for immigrants in Whistler and Canada. At this meeting we will also be inducting new member Michael Blaxland. Following the above the Blues Planning Organizing Committee will gather to review the plans or progress to date. If you are eating or drinking, please order your food and drink as soon as you enter "the Backside". Raise a glass to welcome Michael. An RVSP to Gill Foreseter  gillforester23@gmail.com would be appreciated.

We have a July 30th AM meeting at WCSS discussing club finances, donations, and club meetings times and frequencies for the fall.

August 13th  @ 5:15 PM at Dusty's Backside is a special time to send faithful Rotarian David Oakes off to Vancouver Island. David and Brenda are moving to Courtnay. We will miss David very much for his wit, knowledge and being minder of the weekly technical presentations to our club. David will leave hundreds of photos taken over his many years with Rotary on the ClubRunner website; a tribute to his photographic prowess.

Join us for a drink or dinner and enjoy our progress in humanitarian contributions to society.

A very busy month

July 13th members of the Rotary Club of Whistler brought food and wine to toast the installation of Brian Brown the 2019-2020
President of The Rotary Club of Whistler millennium. The picnic barbecue was held on Green Lake at the home of Rotarians Alex and Lyn Strochen.

A very productive Board Meeting as held on July 15 in the TD Board Room focusing some of the proceeds from the Jim Duncan Funds held in trust by the Whistler Rotary Club Foundation to be donated to the first of the three Spearhead Huts bunk beds. A plaque will indicate where the funds have come from. Might be worth a hike to check out the bunks and plaque in this wonderful high alpine winter appropriate facility.

The Rotary Club of Whistler is gearing up for the August 4th and 5th Pancake Breakfast ( with blueberries) at the Dusty's Barbecue Championships.
This is a very tasty way to support our club.  If you have Food Safe Certification join us to flip or enjoy some flap jacks.

Rotarian volunteerism looms ahead in the way of Iron Man July 25th to 27th. This year we are to sign up 3,500 participants.  Mary-Anne Prevost; special Whistlerite, athlete, trainer extraordinaire, mother and generally good soul
is shown at our July 9th AM meeting at WCSS. Mary-Anne has brought a very favorable dimension to volunteering at Iron Man especially with  communications and respect for the volunteers. Shown with Mary-Anne is Murray Wood, winner of Best Team Captain for Iron Man Volunteers. Murray is our Assistant District Governor for District 5040. Mary-Anne shared her knowledge of the Iron Man process and indicated there will be an announcement during the signing in.
