Canada Day ParadeThe Canada Day parade was quite the blockbuster of an event. We certainly took the Great Canadian Campout theme to heart: With 3 "volkswagon cars" run by our Interactors, a truck carrying a canoe with a large wooden bear at the helm, a trailer with tent and "fire", lots of hockey players and we can't forget that cardboard canoe. We were certainly noticed. Our Clubs certainly have people with much more creativity than I have. Well done and thank-you to all who made it happen. This was way good! It was great to get out there and feel like one great Rotary team, Hopefully we will get a chance to do something like this again. Before next July 1st. This Week's meetingJuly 3 Steve McCullough. Subaru Ironman CanadaAgain the Rotary Club of Whistler has been asked to head up the Athlete Check in function. Subaru Ironman Canada is a major event for Whistler and it's a major fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Whistler. Please mark your calendars, wake the neighbours and bring your friends. This year Athlete Check in occurs over three days. (Jul 26,27 and 28). Check in is where athletes pick up all the necessary paperwork and race articles necessary to compete. It is a great opportunity to meet the people who will be competing in the event. Those who have worked the event in previous years will note that, in general, these athletes are a pretty friendly bunch and Athlete Check in is a good experience. To register you must go to the Subaru Ironman Canada Volunteer Registration Site and select one or more of the Athlete Check In shifts. |
