Jim Duncan a former member of the Rotary Club of Whistler  passed very unexpectedly a month ago on April 1 at the age of 72.
Through his generous contributions the Rotary Club of Whistler  - Jim Duncan Endowment fund was established to support community projects within the Sea-to-Sky corridor. The benefits from this fund continue to make a major impact to this day.
Jim was born and raised in Montreal where he became a competitive skier, a passion he kept all his life.  He began his career as a trader in the bond market and became a star bond salesman at Burns Fry under legendary chairman Jack Lawrence. Jim was a shrewd investor, possessed a keen sense of humour and was very good company. Behind his sharp wit Jim was a kind man and a very good friend.
After moving to Vancouver where he ran his firm's bond sales desk Jim and moved full time to Whistler. Jim skied from his house on Blackcomb. He strongly supported his son's ski racing efforts by doing alpine race timing duties for both the Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard Club and the Whistler Mountain Ski Club.
Jim was very generous and was a strong supporter of many charities.  He was a member of the Rotary Club of Whistler and his wit contributed to many memorable meetings.
Jim and family returned to West Vancouver to better support the family. He is survived by wife Vesna Petrovic, daughter Samantha, sons Michael (Erin) and Tyler (Shawna) and twin grandsons. He was a strong supporter of our community and is greatly missed.
