The new 2018-2019 Board of Directors for Whistler Rotary Club are  inducted on the sunny evening of June 19th at the monthly dinner  meeting held at The Venue.

Observers from the right are Isobel McLaurin and Barbie Walker. President Ken presides over the event where Bridget Daley, Margaret Pallot and Janice Lloyd vow to be loyal to their responsibilities as Board Members.

Assistant District Governor Murray Wood

On June 19th at the same dinner meeting long time, hard working and clever Rotarian Murray Wood is inducted into the role of Assistant District Governor commencing July 1st.

His skills will be appreciated by the District 5040. We hope he continues to share his knowledge and generous  gifts with the Whistler Rotary Club where he remains a member.

Rotary Club is almost genetic in Murray.  His father was a member of the Masonic lodge and mother was a member of the Eastern star in a small  town in Alberta where Murray spent his youth. A degree in Information Technology is a huge bonus for us in addition to his outgoing and service minded character.

The prairie spirit of Murray is live and well in District 5040 and lives on in Whistler!  Our best wishes and thanks go to Murray for all he shares!

Gail Wensley's trip to the Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Centre

Long time Rotarian and world traveler Gail Wensley who is a particular friend of world famous animal activist Jane Goodall, gave a fascinating video presentation on  this lovely evening of June 19th.  Gail's review of her association and work at the Jane Goodall chimpanzee compound in the Republic of Congo in central Africa was captivating.

This was one of those presentations where you could not stir from your seat for a moment at risk of missing heart warming photos of the chimps or Gail trudging through the bush and across the savanna.

Gail travels to Africa, usually at  four to six month intervals as she has for the past 14  years. Many thanks to Gail for enriching our evening even further!
