East Green Trail
Jul. 15, 2025 6:00 p.m.
"Doug first came to Whistler in 1971 to ski. During the 1970's, he came over from Victoria 2 or 3 times during the winter to ski. As a member of the Alpine Club of Canada - Victoria Section occasional visits were made during the 1970's to visit the local mountains.
He came to Whistler permanently in 1981 and was the RMOW engineer whose role included responsibility for the development of the Valley Trail and numerous parks and beaches. This was more exciting than the sewers and sewage treatment part of the job. Over the ensuing years Doug became familiar with most of the hiking trails and mountains around the Whistler/Sea to Sky area.
Over the last decade numerous bike rides and hikes covered all of the Sea to Sky Trail. This developed an interest in the future expansion of the S2S Trail which then led to the East Green Trail project. The following slide show tells the story of the creation of this trail."
