The Citizens Media: a crowdfunding platform for community based projects that brings equal opportunity for people and local businesses to work together and increase their wellbeing. I'll talk around challenges presented by the way our current economy works, and tools available to help overcome. We'll be launching our new platform soon and inviting Whistlers local business and citizens to get involved. We will also be sending a pitch for sponsorship to Vail Resorts. |

Recycling & The Climate Reality Story
Dec. 18, 2018
My name is Taniell Hamilton and I have lived in Whistler the past 6 years. I was born and raised in Southern Alberta and spent my early twenties going to school and working around the world; New Zealand, Switzerland and Japan to name a few. In 2012 I graduated with an associates degree in Early Childhood Education and in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability Studies. I started working with WB as a kids ski instructor back in 2012 and moved into the role of "Waste Reduction Specialist" shortly after graduating. Recently, my position has changed to Assistant Sustainability Manager and my roles now include not only waste reduction, but also championing our internal green teams and training/educating our staff regarding all things environmental. The best thing about my role at WB is having the opportunity to motivate our workforce towards our sustainable initiatives and constantly being inspired by the efforts of those around me. |

WCSS Tool Library - Don't buy that tool. Borrow it from Whistler's Tool Library!
Mar. 19, 2019
Did you know that the Whistler Community Services Society has a tool library? The Library, located in the ReBuildIt Centre in Function Junction, has a large variety of tools and once you join the Library you can borrow any of them for a period of time. Great when you need a tool for that special project. Besides, what do you do with that wheelbarrow during the 99% of the time when you are not using it? Lori Pyne, Re-Build Centre Tool Lending Library Manager will be on hand to explain the rationale for the Tool Library, how it works, the type of tools in the Library and how you can join. In addition we might have a discussion on how Rotary can help. |
