Whistler Chamber of Commerce Board Room and on Zoom. Social time with some form of food starting at 6:00. Please go to the Calendar for the details of each week's meeting. If you are thinking about joining Rotary, or are a Rotarian visiting from another club, please feel free to join us.

2023-2024 District Governor Shirley-Pat Gale Visits our club to help us award 3 Paul Harris Fellowships and Induct 2 new members.

Happy 47th Birthday Rotary Club of Whistler

We celebrated our 47th birthday in style on Tuesday night, with our local members and those on Zoom from Lillooet.

Cornucopia Funds Distributed

At our meeting on Tuesday, January 23rd, we distributed some of the funds earned in the Cornucopia Event. Recipients of funds for Youth in Crisis support were the Whistler Community Services Society, Zero Ceiling, the Whistler Rotary Interact Club and the Writing Society.

Whistler Blackcomb Joins the Rotary Club of Whistler

A special night for out club, with Belinda Trembath, COO of Whistler Blackcomb and Ellody Spike Porter, Special Project Manager of Whistler Blackcomb were inducted into the Rotary Club of Whistler as our first Corporate Member. The WB team is looking forward to providing volunteers for our many upcoming fundraising events along with participating in our various club meetings and socials.

There is no charge for this meeting as we are now not having catered food. We will be doing our standard potluck finger food appetizers.

Cornucopia 2023

The Rotary Club of Whistler, with help from the Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium, Whistler Community Services Society, Zero Ceiling and the Writing Society put on a show at Cornucopia this year with a massive Silent Auction and manned the Coat Check area of a dozen events.

Almost $27,000 gross was raised between the two activities, all being distributed for Youth in Crisis and Youth Support programs in the Whistler area. Thanks to Tourism Whistler, Watermark Communications, the many local businesses who donated their goods and services, all the very well dressed attendees who donated at coat check so generously, and all the volunteers who helped out.

Now we get to do it again next year.

Granfondo 2023

The Rotary Club of Whistler again managed the finish line Bike Parking area for this September 9, 2023 Granfondo. We marshalled morning and afternoon shifts of 10 people each. Thanks to all the volunteers from the two Whistler Rotary Clubs. What a blast meeting and assisting all the riders as they finished their gruelling ride.

Canada Day Pancake Breakfast

A magnificent Canada Day serving a pancake breakfast in the Olympic Plaza. Thank you to the volunteers from both Whistler Rotary Clubs, and the Municipality of Whistler for helping make it happen. See you next Canada Day.

The Lytton Fire
Almost one year ago, on June 30th, 2021, the beautiful Village of Lytton, BC was destroyed by a wildfire that swept through the town with such speed and fury, most residents didn’t have time to grab much, if anything. Only a few things in Lytton were unscathed by the devastating fire. One of those things, was a small vineyard on the opposite side of the Fraser River called Winch Spur Vineyard. Owners Chuck and Nonie McCann farm this small vineyard planted in Pinot Gris grapes. Here's a link to a video that explains what happened.

Grapes With A Special Purpose
As our winery is based in Lillooet, Fort Berens Estate Winery has a deep connection to the people and community of Lytton. A few months after the fire, while driving from Lillooet to Lytton to pick the grapes from Winch Spur Vineyard, our team, deeply moved by the devastating loss in Lytton, crafted a plan to launch a fundraising campaign. These Pinot Gris grapes from Lytton escaped the fire, and became grapes with a special purpose.

Lytton Strong Special Edition Pinot Gris
Today we are absolutely thrilled to announce the launch of our Lytton Strong Special Edition Pinot Gris, made exclusively with grapes from Lytton's Winch Spur Vineyard. Along with our vineyard partner, Winch Spur Vineyard, and with support from industry partners including TricorBraun, Elite Print Services, and Artus Bottling, we are thrilled to announce that 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this special edition wine will be donated to this fundraising campaign. With just a limited amount of wine produced, 120 cases (1,440 bottles), we expect it to sell out very quickly. It will be sold exclusively in our tasting room and on our website. The wine is sold in packs of 3 bottles for $100 (plus taxes, bottle deposit and shipping). The full $100 per 3-pack will be donated to the fundraising campaign. To maximize the donations to the fundraiser, we are not able to offer a discount on this wine to our Discovery Club members.
