The Why we Belong to Rotary - A visit to our club funded Uganda projects and Ethiopia end Polio tour
Nov. 28, 2017

|
Nov. 28, 2017 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Doors open at 5:15ish, Meeting starts at 6:00ish. Buffet Dinner cost $26 (includes tax and gratuity) Have you ever wondered why we do what we do in Rotary? Or, what's the real impact of all of those pancake breakfasts, corn roasts and other Rotary fundraisers? On their recent trip to Uganda and Ethiopia, President Ken and Anette Martin went in search of answers to the above questions and they would like to share what they found. It was eye opening and very inspirational. How Rotary improves the lives of subsistence farming families in rural Uganda. What it's like to travel in Ethiopia with a group of Rotarians who have been involved in Polio eradication through immunization and survivor support over the past 20 years. There were many other aspects to their trip and if time allows they may show a few pictures for their animal tracking and safari trips in search of:
Please join us at The Venue restaurant for another great evening of socializing, dinner, and, of course, a great presentation. |

Please let Marg know if you are interested in joining our excursion to Head of the Lake School on Dec 21st. It will be their last school day before the holidays and the students will be receiving the presents that our Club purchased and their teachers wrapped. They plan to have a luncheon for the students, give out the gifts... followed by a movie. (I did not assume we would be provided lunch so please bring a sandwich or snack).
If anyone knows someone with a Santa outfit that we could take it up to the school that day... and please let me know asap.
This is our first visit in a long time so they may be shy. Our goal is to re-establish our relationship and support and which may take a little time. It truly is a community that can use genuine support and I'm so pleased how many members have shown interest.
Please respond via email to me if you are planning to attend and if you are able to drive.
We will meet at Meadow Park at 9:30 am on Dec 21st.
Thanks,
Marg

Please join the Rotary Club of Whistler Tuesday evening, March 27th as we are hosting a Whistler Rotarian Alumni Reunion at The Venue Restaurant.
This is a casual dinner and drinks social event celebrating our mutual 41 years of Rotary contributions to our community and to look forward to some exciting community support initiatives we have in the works.
We will have a number of former Rotarians (Peter Alder, Peter Ackhurst) sharing their recollections of some of our past projects, from the Adirondack Chairs in the Olympic plaza, to our various hiking trails signage programs, to the bus shelters and cub scout cabins, to name just a few. We also have many many old photos to display to help with our collective recollections. More stories, photos and artifacts are most welcome.
The Venue offers us a superb buffet for $26 all in. Spouses welcome. We can accommodate only 50 individuals so please register early.
If you know of other former Rotarians, please pass the word and this registration adddress along. Our email database is incomplete likely quite out of date.
Please not that if you cancel later than Thursday evening March 22nd or if you are a no show, you will be expected to reimburse the Venue for the cost of your dinner. Each meeting we have 2 or 3 no shows, yet the food has already been purchased and prepared based on total registration numbers.
